Espíritu × Eyes of Calma — A Collaboration to Remember Calm

A Huarache for Presence and Calm

Some collaborations start from aesthetics; this one started from a feeling. Espíritu and Eyes of Calma met through a shared mission: to bring people back to themselves in the middle of everyday life. For Espíritu, that has always meant designing huaraches that invite presence with every step—rooted in Mexican craft, made for walking through cities, markets, and journeys. For Eyes of Calma, it means creating objects that quietly remind you of the calm you already carry inside.

From that shared intention, the idea emerged naturally: a special-edition Espíritu huarache that carries the Eyes of Calma ojito, the brand’s signature symbol. Woven leather and traditional construction meet a small, powerful visual mantra. Every time you look down at your feet, you see the eye and the feeling it represents: calm. It’s not about chasing calm, but about remembering it, step by step.

This collaboration lives between Roma Norte and San Miguel de Allende, between online and in-store, between mind and body. It’s an invitation to walk through the world with a peaceful spirit—anchored by craft, guided by a simple reminder.

“Calm Isn’t Sought, It’s Remembered”

Calm isn't sought, it's remembered.” With that phrase, Eyes of Calma founder Pablo Centineo sums up the heart of his work. He describes it simply: “Let's say my mission on Earth is to bring calm to the world.” There is something disarming about how direct that sounds. No complicated system, no twelve-step method—just the recognition that calm is not something we have to hunt for; it’s a state we can return to.

That perspective shifts everything. If calm is something we remember rather than chase, then the role of design becomes one of gentle reminder. Instead of adding more noise to our lives, objects can become small anchors: subtle signals that guide us back to a place we already know.

From Burning Man Gift to Living Project

Eyes of Calma began as a gift, not a brand. Pablo tells us, “This project began four years ago… Well, this project actually started as a gift for Burning Man. I just made about thirty caps for my friends. It's common to bring gifts for people you meet.” Each cap carried the eye symbol and the word calma, a simple gesture in a place that celebrates generosity and experimentation.

What he didn’t expect was what happened afterwards. “Later, my new friends wrote to tell me it really works, that it helps them find that place of calm.” Something about the combination of symbol, word, and intention stayed with people long after the dust of the desert had settled. The cap became more than an accessory; it became a reminder they could wear into their everyday lives.

It started as a hobby. These are the kind of projects that take on a life of their own.” That organic growth feels very close to how Espíritu was born too: from a personal need and a deep love for a craft, which slowly turned into a shared language with others.

Why a Cap? A Constant Conversation

At some point, Pablo realized there was a deeper insight behind what he was doing. “When I discovered we only needed to remember calm, I asked: where can I remind you of calm most frequently? And it occurred to me – from inside a cap.

He explains the choice with a kind of quiet logic: “I think caps are interesting because they're one of the few products with no age limit or gender – we can wear them for meetings, parties, or vacations. A cap is something constant that allows me to have this conversation with you.

That constancy is what makes the object powerful. The cap is there when you open your closet, when you check the mirror before heading out, when you travel, when you walk. Each time, the word and symbol are waiting—never demanding attention, but always available. It’s design as a soft repetition, a mantra placed just above your eyes.

Different Paths, Same Destination

The bridge between Eyes of Calma and Espíritu was built through friendship. “My dear friend Fran, one of Spiritu's founders, learned about the project and told me: ‘Pablo, I think we've reached the same destination but through different paths.’

Pablo continues, “Spiritu promotes steps that guide you to presence and spirit, while I help you find and remember calmness. We realized that ultimately, we both promote a peaceful spirit. The genuine feeling of existing and seeing life's beauty in every detail.

For Espíritu, that description feels exactly right. A huarache can be a simple shoe—or it can be a way of remembering that your body and your journey deserve comfort and attention. Eyes of Calma adds another layer to that idea: a symbol that invites you to slow down internally as well, to notice how you feel, not just where you’re going.

In this collaboration, those paths cross. A traditional Mexican silhouette carries a contemporary symbol of inner state. Movement meets memory; presence meets calm.

Where Calm Lives in the World

The story of Eyes of Calma is also tied to specific places. “This December 12th, our anniversary and the day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, you'll find this collaboration at eyeofcalma.com and spiritu.com.” The date itself is charged with meaning—an anniversary, a celebration, and a shared moment in Mexico’s spiritual calendar.

Pablo adds, “Also at our physical flagship store, Eyes of Calma in Cibeles, and at Spiritu's flagship store in San Miguel de Allende. The store is located in La Cibeles. We're in Roma Norte. Our Instagram is eyesofcalma.

Between Roma Norte and San Miguel de Allende, between a cap and a huarache, the project becomes something you can walk into, try on, and take home—a way of carrying calm not just as an idea, but as something stitched and woven into what you wear.

Join Us in Roma Norte — Collaboration Launch & Anniversary Event

To celebrate both the Eyes of Calma anniversary and the launch of our collaborative collection, we’re hosting a special event at the Eyes of Calma flagship store by Fuente de Cibeles, in Roma Norte, CDMX. It will be an evening of community, calm, spirit & celebration, and the first chance to experience the Espíritu × Eyes of Calma collaboration in person.

On December 12th, you’ll also be able to find the collaboration online at eyesofcalma.com and espiritu.com, as well as at Espíritu’s flagship store in San Miguel de Allende. But if you’re in Mexico City, we would love to share this moment with you in person.
